UTEP Wireless Requirements
To use the UTEP wireless network, a user needs to purchase:

• Wireless capable device such as a laptop, tablet PC or PDA

• 802.11b Wireless card (some areas on campus offer other wireless protocols such as 802.11a and 802.11g, however the recommended standard is 802.11b) Recommended Solution: Cisco 350 Series PCMCIA Adapter or Enterasys (Proxim) RoamAbout adapter 

• Valid UTEP e-mail account

• SSL Capable Internet Browser Recommended Solution: Internet Explorer 6.0

If your department would like to sponsor a guest account for temporary visitors, please contact the UTEP Help Desk.

NOTE: We have had issues with several wireless vendors on campus.  If you have questions on which card to purchase please call the help desk before you buy.
