UTEP Wireless Client Configurations

To configure a wireless device to work on campus you need the basic configurations:

  • SSID or Network Name: utepwl1

  • DHCP enabled

  • WEP and Network Encryption turned off

More detailed instructions are available for Windows Vista, Windows XP SP2, Windows XP and for Windows 2000 (Microsoft Word Documents). MAC OSX is also available. MAC OSX  The most common reason for not being able to connect to the UTEP wireless network is old device drivers.  If you are an advanced user you can go to your wireless card manufacturer's website and update your drivers.  Even though your card does work in other wireless networks this may fix problems found while accessing our network.  After a driver upgrade you might need to reprogram your wireless card.
